Billing - SMP is structured to act as your outsourced Business Office. Through our centralized business office, SMP can post payments, send patient statements, process charges, submit claims electronically, process refunds, collect balance, initiate appeals, and follow-up on all aspects of accounts receivable on behalf of your facility. With our combined expertise of government and commercial payers, SMP is able to function in a high quality and efficient manner.

Coding - Certified coders perform all coding functions for SMP. The staff maintains certification through continuing education. SMP coding staff has several areas of coding specialties for Clinic, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and Specialty Hospital coding: Orthopedic, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Otolaryngology (ENT), General Surgery, Pain Management, Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN), Urology, Gastroenterology, and Podiatry.

Coding Audits - SMP will evaluate your records to verify compliance with current coding guidelines. A complete report will outline the findings that will include coding references and supporting documentation along with our recommendations.

Managed Care Contracting and Negotiation - SMP will assess facilities managed care contracts and negotiate on behalf of the facility. This detailed review includes a complete review of the contract language, terms, and reimbursement rates. SMP will work directly with the insurance companies to ensure the facility is getting a fair and reasonable reimbursement rate.

Chargemaster Review - SMP will analyze the facility’s charge master, identify any issues and recommendations for improvement. SMP utilizes a combined methodology for determining charge master rates for facilities by utilizing Medicare weights, average reimbursement, costing data, and regional data.

Physician Billing & Coding Services - In addition to facility billing, SMP also provides full service billing and coding services for physician offices.  From credentialing to coding to AR follow-up, we are able to offer full billing services to single or multiple physician offices.
